Surgery Talk.

I think that when I tell people I'm having knee surgery, what they actually hear me say is, "Please tell me all your stories about knee surgeries gone wrong.... self, friends, acquaintances, whomever it may be... If you have any stories about people who died of blood clots after surgery or who were never able to walk the same, ALL THE BETTER."

If you don't believe me, go around and tell people that you are having knee surgery, and everyone will have a story to tell you and then you will know that I'm not lying.

Does anyone think that I need extra help being nervous right now? Heads up: I don't. I'm already a fragile bundle of delicate nerves.

The following collage demonstrates my current emotional state:

every loves a webcam collage. oh wait, just me? well okay then.

Today I registered at the hospital, which sounds like a pretty low-key process, except that "registering" is hospital slang for "telling the patient all the things that can go wrong and then making her sign her young, tender life away."

My favorite is when people ask me if I'm nervous. OF COURSE I'M NERVOUS, I'M NOT A FREAKIN' ROBOT.

And now that this is off my chest, I would like to thank all the kind people who have been positive and encouraging as my surgery date approaches.

For anyone who is struggling with what to say to a future surgery patient, here are some solid options:
-It will be great!
-I've never ever ever heard of anything going wrong in surgery ever!
-You're pretty.
-Do you want some ice cream?

Aaand...that's pretty much it.

My knee surgery went really smoothly (honest!) I was back at work within a few days even. Now I wouldn't recommend an hour long commute to work right after a surgery, but it's doable! Also, you should totally get an ice pump machine. Those are awesome! And you're pretty too!
