Goodbye. For realzies.

Hello friends, family, acquaintances, blog stalkers, favorite people, enemies, frenemies, lost internet travelers, and besties alike. It is time to say goodbye.

I know that I said goodbye before, last July. And then I confused all of your cute little minds by sticking around. But this time, it is for real for real. Like, fo sho cotton-eye joe. THIS IS HAPPENING.

I'm going on an 18 month mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and I could not be more excited!!!

If you would like to read my adventures in Missouri/Kansas, check it out on my mission blog.

I'll be back next August, until then...... GOODBYE MY PEEPS. Stay wonderful. I know you will all miss me terribly, but don't cry too much. Just write me letters as you weep.  haha.

PEACE ------- OUT

I thought I would end things with one of my stellar webcam collages.
I love making those with my whole soul.
Do you think the other missionaries will be my friends???
I hope so.
I'm putting off ending this post so I'm just going to keep typing.
I have nothing profound to say.
Love you guys.
Unless I don't know who you are. That's creepy.
Thanks for reading me blog for the last forever and a half.
You are all the best.
Keep it real!!

GOODBYE.

The Doctor Was Bored.

Well today I went to an Urgent Care to get an antibiotic for my current sinus infection...

(why does it feel like I'm always getting sick?! C'mon immune system, step it up.)

The doctor casually checked out my symptoms and then sauntered out of the room to print out my prescription.

He turned back and said "yeah, most the people who have come in here lately have what you have. So that's why I'm so bored right now."

Sorry doc. Maybe I'll contract leprosy for my next visit, just to spice up your day a little.

In other news, I'm getting set apart as a missionary in 6 days. WHAT. Yes. This is happening.

Ant. On My Face. Yep.

This morning my alarm went off, so of course I turned it off and fell back asleep as I do most of the days of my impressive, non-slothful, ever-productive life.

I had a very real dream that an ANT was crawling across my eyelid. Yes, my eyelid, the very thin piece of flesh that protects my windows into the world. Suuuuuper creepy. In my dream I frantically used my fingers to pinch the ant and wipe it off my eye. Holy wow.

When I woke up again an hour later, I remembered the dream and laughed. Then I looked down and there was a dead ant stuck to my hand....

So if anyone needs me between the hours of midnight and 8 am-ish, I will be available, just sitting wide awake in my bed, trying to overcome the emotional trauma of my life. Feel free to give me a ring.

Or if you want to be helpful, come watch my face for me while I sleep. Thanks so much. Goodbye.

The Mouthwash Incident.

Well this morning I accidentally swallowed some mouthwash.

It just happened so fast. I can't be trusted with dangerous chemicals. I get distracted so easily. It was a small amount but now I am trying to spend each hour as if it were my last... just in case. It's definitely time for YOLO.

Cuz we only live once.

Definitely my favorite YOLO meme.
I wish I could relive the awesome moment
when my sister and I explained YOLO to my mom.
#precious
PS: this blog post is dedicated to Sarah, my YOLO guru.
Longest caption ever.
continue.

Swallowing a small amount of mouthwash has caused me reflect. There is so much that I still need to do in my life!!!

Such as:

1. Finally get my act together.
2. Run a 5K. (I haven't been able to even jog since my knee surgery... so maybe in a few years... ha)
3. Learn how to not be awkward.
4. Learn how to rock red lipstick.
5. Cook pancakes without having them taste like garbage. (sad.)
6. Take Social Dance at BYU with all the freshman. (by the time I get to this, I will be approximately 24 years old...  they'll think I'm elderly.)
7.  Serve a mission.... DUH. Almost there! #miracleshappen
8.  Become cooler.
9. Win a rap battle.
10.  ^^^well maybe not this one, but in my dreams.
11. Learn to speak Spanish.
12. Become more cultured.
13.  Live in NYC for a summer.
14. Re-gain my social life. (friends on missions... I miss you.....come home......)
15. Find a reason to attend a gala and wear a sparkly evening gown. (THIS WILL HAPPEN. I might have to sneak in, but it's happening sometime in my life.)
16. Travel to all 50 states.
17. Learn how to wake up to an alarm. (I still struggle so badly... it's getting pathetic.)

I realize that ending a list on 17 is kinda weird.... but don't be a hater. I am so thankful that swallowing mouthwash this morning gave me a chance to evaluate my life and embrace a new-found perspective. You might even say it's the best thing that ever happened to me. Things have never felt this crystal clear.

You can never go wrong with a webcam collage.
Either that, or you can go so very wrong. I can't keep it straight.

YOLO, err'body.... YOLO.  Embrace it. And don't swallow mouthwash. Amen.

Sayonara in Six Weeks!

Well, blog peeps, I thought I would break the blog silence that happened for no reason by announcing my new report date! FEBRUARY 20th.

I'm pretty psyched to be able to go on my mission to Independence, Missouri and I'm glad that I now have a (mostly) functioning knee, too! And spending time at home has been fun. So it's a win win win.

I officially have 6 weeks until my mission and I'm excited to live it up!I have like a million lists of a million things to do before my mission... a lot of prep work and a lot of memories I want to make. Let's do this.

^^^^ It bugs me too that this isn't centered....  let's just say that I am struggling tonight. ha.

Going Unpublished.

I haven't been writing too much on the ol' blog these past few weeks.  I think it's because all of my ideas for posts lately have been somewhat controversial and maybe a little bit snarky. I am an opinionated person, but I am also very agreeable and I hesitate to invite conflict.  Maybe that's disappointing to some, but really, I just want to live a peaceful life.

And that is why many of my blog posts are going to go unpublished! And that's totally ok, right? Right.

Like my blog post about why I changed my party registration after the election.

....my post about how disappointing it was to see hurtful backlash over something so harmless as women wearing pants to church.

....my post about how angry I am when people say God is not allowed in public schools.  (Children and teachers are always free to pray at school, and Heavenly Father loves his children so much... he does not abandon them just because there are no school-instituted prayers.... the thought makes me sad.)

While I'm grateful for my opinions and my ability to think for myself, I think I'm going to keep them to myself for now. (Minus my sneaky way of letting a few slip in this post... haha. yup.)

I love writing and want to write things that will uplift, inspire, and mostly just cause people to laugh.  I'm on a new mission to find everyday inspiration to write funny blog posts once again!  Please pray that awkward things will happen for me to write about....

Also, if this blog turned into Amy's-Opinion-Central, where would it end?  In a few months I would be writing blog posts about how why pigeons are the worst and why I don't like Taylor Swift.  And no one likes a H8ER.

12/12/12

Somehow I knew that 12/12/12 would be a good day. You just have to have a good day with a date like that.

I woke up this morning and said to myself, "It's 12/12/12 and I'm going to have a great day."

The first thing I did was go downstairs and sing happy birthday to my beautiful momma!! What an awesome birthday for an awesome lady!

Then I drove to PT, and "Sugar Pie Honey Bunch" was on the radio. Um, what a good song.  Best believe I cranked it up and sang along.  Do yourself a favor and listen to it right now.  You will feel so happy.

When I got to PT, the sassy gorgeous receptionist gave me lipstick tips. She is awesome. Someday I will be a diva like her. And then I gave it my all on my exercises, as evidenced by my jello legs walking out. And the sweat all over my face. (Oh wait, I don't sweat, I glisten...)

When I got home, the doorbell rang. And the FedEx man dropped off my Killers tickets!!! Did I mention that I'm going to a Killers concert in 17 days???? I mean, I could DIE. That's how excited I am. I can't even explain it. I want to cry when I think about going to this concert!  (but that's not crazy, right?)

My mom and I were running errands and a train came through Warm Springs Rd! Watching trains fills me with joy.

And then we pulled up at a light and the guy in the car next to us was blasting a peppy version of "Last Christmas" with his window down. And he was dancing and staring at me. Please note that I was in the passenger seat of a mini-van. What a gem.

I ate the most delicious piece of caramel apple bread from Great Harvest. And I wore my favorite scarf.

Out to dinner, birthday cake, watching Paul McCartney jam with Nirvana on TV... It was a good day for all the small reasons.

I want every day to be a good day. May the happy spirit of 12/12/12 carry on!
