The most commonly heard phrase in my life right now is "How's the knee?!"
It means that I have so many people who care about me, and I am so thankful for that. Because, really, it's just nice to know people are thinking about you!
I am definitely making progress with my knee. Just in the last week and a half, I've been able to walk around so much easier than before. I still walk with a bit of a limp most of the time, but it's really not that painful anymore! A week ago, my mom and I walked around Target for an hour, which was the longest I had been on my feet continuously since my surgery, and it was great! Since then I've been trying to walk (slowly) on the treadmill for a little while each day.
But there are still some not so enjoyable things. Like when I stand, my knee begins to swell, and when I sit for a while my knee stiffens up like crazy. I thought I would never walk again after sitting in a movie theater for 2 hours straight last week. ha.
I really didn't think recovery would take this long. In fact, I was hoping to leave on my mission at the end of November. But I need to be physically ready for a mission before I leave, and for that reason, I am waiting out my recovery a little bit longer.
AKA: I don't want to be a crippled missionary.
Some days I get really frustrated. Like, when I go up the stairs at a snail's pace and I think "Dang man, I used to be able to run these puppies." Or when I can't fall asleep because my knee is aching and I'm like, "WHAT.THE.HECK.THIS.IS.THE.WORST." (drama queen.)
But guess what? Six and a half weeks ago, my mom had to push me to the bathroom in a wheelchair when I first came home from the hospital. And when I remember those precious memories, then I'm like, "................. yeah I guess I've come pretty far!"
