I lucked out this year and borrowed my sister Sarah's old Rosie the Riveter costume that she came up with in 7th grade! (She is darn original, isn't she?) She had the shirt hanging in her closet and the red kerchief in her drawer. Easy peasy, right??
Well, then I started getting intense about things. I really wanted a Rosie the Riveter speech bubble thing going on! So I decided to spend the afternoon making it out of foam board. Because, you know.... I have a lot of free time these days.
The inspiration and the foam board, pre navy blue paint.
I went to my computer to print off the words for the sign. I was just going to use a simple font, but none of the fonts were cuttin' it for me. They just didn't look Rosie-esque!
So I got all intense, and googled around for an imitation font of the one on the poster. I found an amazing one and downloaded it!! ...a little OCD of me, but I must say that it made ALL the difference in my sign! (and like I said.... I have lots of free time... haha)
I printed the words to the sign as outlines, cut them out, and clued them to the foam board.
And here is the final product! I was so excited with how well it turned out!
All that was left was taping a wooden stick to the back, and WHAALLAA! I was all ready for the ward Trunk or Treat! And then I didn't even socialize much... I think about 8 people saw and appreciated my costume. Oops. But that's why cameras are GREAT. :)
In other Halloween news, our dog goes to the Trunk or Treat every year. It's a family tradition! This year she went as a zebra in the zoo. SHE LOVED IT. Oh, oops, I mean, she hated it. But it attracts the cute children to our car and it's just straight up fun to dress up a dog, so it is worth it!
isn't my mom a pretty zoo-keeper? ;)
